When word gets out and Luna is dying from the oil in her lungs having swum through it, Benbrook Oil CEO John Milner arrives and announces a plan to move the whales into captivity until further notice. Jesse challenges this, making Milner promise to do whatever he can to get them safely back to their mom or else he'll be blamed for Luna's death, to which Milner seemingly agrees. Filming commenced in Astoria, Oregon and the San Juan Islands between April and August 1994 with additional filming taking place in California. With the oil spill reaching dangerous proximity to the cove, Benbrook Oil and the whalers boom it off despite Jesse, Randolph and Nadine's objections and begin extracting the whales. Elvis returns in time to warn Jesse and they expose Milner's plot which lead to them knocking him and his assistant into the water for breaking their promise. When Jesse meets up with the Orca friend he liberated two years earlier, an offshore oil spill forces them into another race-against-time adventure. They have to band together to save Willy and his family by getting them back into the open ocean. The cast seemed to try hard to outdo the original, and they failed miserably. 1995 VHS Opening to Batman Forever 1995 VHS True HQ. I really felt like this film could have been something better, but it wasn't. The film doesn't do anything new or exciting and the film is pretty pointless. The end credits, like the previous film, once again showed orca footage shot by Bob Talbot. Two renditions of Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" are featured in the movie. Shortly after the Coastal Marine Patrol delivered Elvis and Nadine, Elvis gives Jesse an old picture of him and their mother that was taped back together. On Jesse's signal, Willy is able to break the boom and leads his siblings out of the cove. Unfortunately, the Dakar explodes due to fuel vapors igniting after engineers tried to start the generator, resulting in crude oil to catch fire. Despite the danger, the killer whales are able to swim under the flaming oil to safety. When Jesse, Nadine and Elvis sets out in the boat towards the end of the movie, following Willy and the other Orcas, it's daylight.
The only song not included is "My Spirit Calls Out" that Randolph performed when he treated Luna. Free Willy 2 grossed $30 million in the United States and Canada and $68 million worldwide on a $31 million budget. It received mixed reviews from critics, though many were impressed with the film's subtle approach to pollution and other environmental issues, while focusing on family values. As the Greenwoods continue to enjoy their camping trip, the Dakar runs aground on lawson reef and spills oil due to an engine malfunction, trapping the whales at Camp Nor'wester.
The VHS release included an infomercial before the movie that talks about receiving donations needed to relocate the star orca, Keiko, back to the ocean. It also included appearances from Jason James Richter, August Schellenberg and the Donners as well as interviews with former Oregon Coast Aquarium president Phyllis A. Bell, and Keiko's former trainer Karla Corral. In addition, there is information on the "Free Willy Keiko Adoption Kit" which came with a Free Willy poster, stickers, a newsletter on how Keiko was being rehabilitated, and a replica of Jesse's whale necklace. The kit only cost $24.99, and many people all over the world had donated.
My feelings on this are simple, i thought the first one was great, second was great. The lowest-priced brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging . Please don't scroll past this—the Internet Archive is growing rapidly, and we need your help.
